Paris Fashion Week marks the end of the Spring/Summer 2023 fashion season and to round it all off, Hypebeast has been on the ground capturing the most sought-after footwear trends of the season. After reporting on trends from New York Fashion Week and Milan Fashion Week, PFW saw a shift in footwear trends from clogs to more technical runners. Many attendees supported traditional French luxury brands’ foray into the sneakers market, making for an interesting contrast from the previous fashion weeks.
With PFW being the longest and last leg of fashion month, it comes as no surprise that comfort is a major focus. Not only that, but the ability for the shoes to be durable for the ever-changing weather and reliable for running to-and-from Paris’ hectic back-to-back schedule. Olivier Rousteing‘s futuristic Balmain Unicorn shoe stood out with its unique construction and dynamic flair. When it comes to technical sneakers, Balenciaga is once again a top choice. Specifically, Balenciaga’s X-Pander Mesh and Nylon Sneakers and Runner Nylon and Mesh Sneakers remain a hot footwear silhouette that is both aesthetic and functional.
Nike continues to be the brand of choice for traditional sneakers as showgoers showed off their best Hypebeast-esque street style with a pair of Stüssy x Nike Air Max 2013 in pink and even a rare pair of the red Supreme x Nike Shox Ride 2 collaboration. Givenchy’s Matthew M Williams takes technical footwear to a whole new level as he was spotted wearing a pair of all black new TK-360s.
When it comes to the overall footwear trend in Paris and all the fashion weeks combined, it is apparent that the sneaker trend is here to stay. As comfort and functionality becomes a continual importance for wearers, these silhouettes will continue to have their major moment on the global stage. Take a look above at some of the biggest footwear trends from PFW SS23.
