Behind The Lens – Deadline

Deadline

Creator. Writer. Director. Producer. Star. Amy Schumer does it all on her new Hulu series Life & Beth, but then she has been doing it all for quite a while now. Coming on the heels of her hosting gig on that very memorable Oscars show, this project allowed her to spread her wings, even directing herself in four of the episodes. The premise is also very personal, even about 50% autobiographical in many ways, and something many viewers will relate to as well.

Schumer joins me for today’s edition of my Deadline video series Behind the Lens to talk about it all, as well as that infamous Oscar show and why she would love to keep hosting it, and the impending return of her comedy show Inside Amy Schumer. We also talk about her film career, which includes of course her breakthrough Trainwreck which she also wrote and earned several awards nominations, as well as her most recent The Humans, based on the Tony-winning play and for which she won critical acclaim in a dramatic role. There is much more to talk about including the changing landscape for stand-up comics, about which she also has definite thoughts.

Join me every Monday and Friday during Emmy season for another Behind The Lens.
