Shahid Kapoor starrer Jersey is all set to hit the big screens on 22nd April 2022. The movie was supposed to release last week, but due to a legal matter, it was postponed by a week. The film, which also stars Mrunal Thakur and Pankaj Kapur, is a remake of the Telugu movie Jersey. The film’s basic storyline revolves around cricket, and before Jersey, many Bollywood movies based on cricket had hit the big screens. So, now as moviegoers gear up to watch Jersey in theaters, here are some cricket-based movies that you can enjoy on Netflix, Disney + Hostar, and other OTT platforms.
Lagaan (Netflix)
When we talk about movies based on cricket, the first name that comes to our mind is Aamir Khan starrer Lagaan. The movie, which was India’s official entry to the Oscars, is streaming on Netflix.
MSDhoni: The Untold Story (Disney + Hotstar)
MSDhoni: The Untold Story starring the late Sushant Singh Rajput was a biopic on Mahendra Singh Dhoni. The movie was a blockbuster at the box office, and Sushant’s performance in it was appreciated a lot. You can watch it on Disney + Hotstar.
83 (Netflix / Disney + Hotstar)
Ranveer Singh starrer 83, which was released in December last year, did an average business at the box office. But, the movie received positive reviews, and it is now streaming on Netflix and Disney + Hotstar.
Dil Bole Hadippa (Amazon Prime Video)
Before Anushka Sharma and Taapsee Pannu, it was Rani Mukerji who played the role of a cricketer in a movie. The actress starred in Dil Bole Hadippa in which she played the role of a girl who dresses up as a man and plays cricket. You can watch the movie on Amazon Prime Video.
The Zoya Factor (Netflix)
Sonam Kapoor and Dulquer Salmaan starrer The Zoya Factor didn’t do a great business at the box office. But, it’s a feel-good, refreshing movie about a girl who becomes the lucky charm of the Indian cricket team. The movie is available on Netflix.
