In the sixth edition, Attorney General of India R Venkataramani in conversation with Nandini Khaitan recommends the Tamil epic Kamba Ramayanam to read as a translation for non-Tamil speakers.
“One, because it is Ramayanam and second, because of the greatness of the poet… it is a great contribution to world literature“, he explains.
Throwing light on the contemporary writers he likes to read, he discusses the works of Mulk Raj Anand that he read in college.
Also sharing his interests in poetry, he says:
“Who could not enjoy Milton? Or Shakespeare for that matter.. I also enjoyed the English translation of Dr Faustus and Tamil poetry which I have read quite a bit, Walt Whitman I mentioned and TS Eliot. Many of these classic English poets.“
He also reveals his personal path to writing poetry and reads one of his works during the interview.
In the latest edition Additional Solicitor General Madhavi Divan revealed how her parents shaped her reading interests. Her mother, Nayana Goradia, is a published author, having written a biography of Lord Curzon.
