Amid Adipurush trolling, Saif Ali Khan says he ‘wants to act in Mahabharata if someone makes it like Lord of the Rings’

Ever since the teaser of Adipurush was released, the film’s cast including Prabhas, Saif Ali Khan and director Om Raut have faced brutal trolling for their misinterpretation of Hindu deities. While Prabhas was criticized for Ram’s avatar, Saif was trolled for Ravana. Amidst the trolling, Saif has expressed his willingness to act in Mahabharata if anyone from Bollywood or the South is willing to do it like the Lord of the Rings trilogy.

“What I would like to act is to act in the Mahabharata if someone makes it like The Lord of the Rings. We talk about it with Ajay Devgn from Kachche Dhaage. I think in our generation this is the dream topic. Everyone wants to do this. We’re going to bring the Bombay film industry together with the South or whatever, if that’s even possible, and just make this spectacular film,” Saif told Bollywood Bubble.

Meanwhile, Saif’s portrayal of Ravana in Adipurush has been brutally criticized. Many people, including veteran actors Deepika Chihlia, who played Sita in Ramanand Sagar’s Ramayan and Mukesh Khanna, who played Bhishma in BR Chopra’s Mahabharata, said that Ravana should not look like a Mughal.

Viewers also criticized the poor visuals of Adipurush and many people also pointed out that the scenes bear a striking resemblance to Harry Potter, Game of Thrones and Batman. The costumes of Lord Ram, Hanuman and others were also scrutinized as they were seen wearing leather accessories.

On the other hand, the Sarva Brahmin Mahasabha on Thursday issued a notice to Om Raut asking him to remove the controversial scenes from the film after seven days or else face legal action.
