Earlier this week, another film by Akshay Kumar hit theaters. selfiestarring Emraan Hashmi, is an action comedy film which is a remake of the Malayalam film Drivers license. While the trailer and remake of the song, ‘Head Khiladi Tu Anari’ of the film was received quite well, the film failed to impress the audience. In a recent interview, the actor, who insisted on giving up his Canadian citizenship for Indian citizenship, also talked about his recent box office failures. The superstar also requested everyone not to blame the audience, further taking the blame for his movies not working.

In his interview with Aaj Tak, Akshay Kumar opened up the performance of his recent theatrical releases saying, “It’s a big alarm, aapki film nahi chal rahi to galti aapki hai (If your movies don’t work, it’s yours. If your movies flop one after the other , it’s an alarm to you that it’s time to change. Mai koshish kar raha hun, wahi kar sakta hoon (I’m trying to change, that’s all I can do).” He continued: “Don’t give the public or anyone else the blame. It’s my fault, 100%. Aapki movie na chalna is not because of the audience. It’s because of what you selected. Maybe you didn’t give the right ingredients in the movie.”

Moreover, the actor also opened up about experiencing a much worse fate in terms of films in the past, in which he had given 16 consecutive flops. “This isn’t happening to me for the first time. There was a time when I had eight movies in a row that didn’t work. Now I’ve had three or four movies in a row that didn’t work. The thing is, it happens through your own fault, movie ka na chalna (a movie that doesn’t work). The audience has changed, you have to change, you have to dismantle yourself,” he said.

For selfieplayed Akshay Kumar in movies like Bachchan Pandey, Samrat Prithviraj, Raksha BandhanAnd Ram Setu which were released in theaters in 2022. The actor also played the role of a cop Cuttputlli which was an OTT release.
