After Shailesh Lodha, Raj Anadkat, who played the role of Tapu in Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah for the past five years, decided to quit the serial. In his farewell note, Raj thanked the fans for their support and assured them that he will be back to entertain everyone very soon.
For the past few months, there were rumors that Raj had quit the show as he was unhappy with how his role was shaping up. He was rumored to have decided to leave the show for better scope for him as an actor. The actor has now officially confirmed his departure from the popular sitcom.
In his long note on Instagram, Raj thanked the entire TMKOC team, my friends, family and all his fans for making his journey wonderful and full of learning. He described his time on the show as one of the best years of his acting career.
“I would like to thank everyone who has supported me on this journey – The entire TMKOC team, my friends, family and of course all of you (red heart emoji). Everyone who accepted me on the show and loved me as ‘TAPU’ Your love for my craft has always pushed me to give my best to each and every one of you, every single time,” Raj said in a statement.
Earlier this year, there were also reports that Munmun Dutta, who played the role of Babita Ji in the popular serial, was leaving the show for the second season of Bigg Boss OTT. However, there is no official confirmation of these rumors.
Last year, Raj was in news for his rumored relationship with Taarak Mehta Ka Oolta Chashma co-star Moonmoon Dutta. Both the actors denied the rumors and slammed media reports for cooking up stories about their romantic affair. Raj had asked the trolls to think about the effects such rumors could have on his life.
