Accenture welcomes 19 SME entrepreneurs for Supplier Development Programme

Multinational professional services company Accenture has enrolled 19 small business entrepreneurs in its fourth two-year Enterprise Supplier Development (ESD) program, which focuses on developing entrepreneurial business skills to increase the economic participation and growth of small and medium-sized enterprises. black-owned Accenture Supply Chain.

“Accenture believes that large companies should proactively engage with smaller businesses in their communities and treat supplier diversity and inclusion as key goals and an essential part of a company’s sourcing strategy,” says Accenture’s head of supplier development in Africa Zandile Nyamela.

“Diversity can help unlock value that goes far beyond traditional supply chain cost savings. It increases competitiveness and innovation, builds consumer loyalty, attracts talent and is for the overall betterment of society,” she says.

The Accenture ESD program provides a blueprint for a more inclusive and empowered marketplace. The company is achieving excellent results with the program by developing the skills of black-owned entrepreneurial businesses, it said.

“That’s why our theme for this class is Market Access, where we make a significant effort to turn program participants into business partners and suppliers. We are building these businesses so that they can become our partners and help us in our offering, gain our bottom line and ultimately benefit the whole of South Africa,” says Njamela.

Small business entrepreneurs gain access to Accenture’s resources, including its people, knowledge base, methodologies, technology and global network, and Accenture as a whole contributes to the growth of their business.

Although selected small business suppliers may not yet be ready to deliver, even after the rigorous selection process, as they progress through the program they will be guided and supported along six pillars, namely business and leadership training, mentoring, early payment for facilitating cash flow, business development support, market access through Accenture’s network and collaboration, notes Nyamela.
