A woman was discriminated against during a job interview based on her age and gender. The brave woman did not leave him, but fought against the company and even won the case.
Walsh applied for the position of delivery driver at a Domino’s store in Strabane, County Tyrone. At the beginning of the interview, she was asked her age and said, “You don’t look like that.” The woman also noticed that the interviewer was writing down her answer and circling it.

Eventually, Walsh learned that she was not selected for the job. However, she believed that her age played a role in this.
“I immediately thought of the interview and the question about my age. I believe my age was an issue and it influenced the decision made by the interview committee,” she said, according to ladbible.
To confirm her suspicions, Walsh contacted the branch via Facebook and told them her concerns. Soon after, she was approached by a committee member for an interview. They stated that they did not know that it was inappropriate to ask a person’s age. Walsh later heard from another employee at the store that the job she had applied for was suitable for people between the ages of 18 and 30.

“I’ve only seen men working as drivers and I think I was overlooked for a driving position because I’m a woman. Domino’s continued to advertise for drivers after the interviews were conducted,” Walsh said.
She soon sued the company and branch owner Justin Quirk compensated her as an apology.
Meanwhile, Domino’s has responded to the incident, stating that “Domino’s operates under a franchisee model, therefore in-store employment and recruitment is the franchisee’s responsibility.” It went on to state, “The franchisee in question then, in unrelated circumstances, was has left the system and the Strabane store is under new management. We are proud to be an inclusive business with a diverse workforce and recognize the important role we play in the communities we serve.”
