8 Iconic Children In Movies Who Are Absurdly Powerful

[ad_1]

A common trope in Hollywood films seems to be children that have powers. These stories feature kids being both the hero and the villain of their own stories; an easy feat, considering just how young and impressionable child-like minds are. Some powers are worse off in the hands of a child than in that of a truly villainous adult.

There is a great burden when a child has absurd power, considering that they may not be able to control what they have due to their lack of control over emotion. In the large library of movies involving powerful children, only some feature iconic child characters with a dangerous level of absurd power.

8 Matilda Wormwood – Matilda

Matilda may be a child that exhibits intellect above the average adult, but that is not where her power lies. Matilda has extraordinary gifts that involve telekinesis. Matilda practiced her abilities on a cigar and honed her powers until she had fine control over them.

What makes Matilda so powerful is her strong telekinesis and how she uses them for good and mischief against those that deserve it. Matilda had a horrible upbringing and an even worse teacher, yet somehow she ended up morally good, rather than using her manipulative powers for absolute evil. Since Matilda was only a child when she first started using her powers, it is unknown how powerful she will be in her adult years.

7 Charlie McGee – Firestarter

Born with pyrokinetic powers, Charlie McGee has a dangerous amount of power for a little girl. These powers allow Charlie to start raging fires all over her mind. Her powers came from her parents, each of whom exhibit their abilities thanks to a secret government experiment. Due to her parents having powers, Charlie’s dwarf theirs.

Charlie’s power is so great that it is early expected that her powers have the capabilities to create nuclear explosions from her willpower. Her powers only grow, and she inherits her parents’ powers, like telepathy, telekinesis, and precognition.

6 Cid – Looper

Humans in Looper have developed mutations that give them telekinetic abilities. This comes from the fact that the film is set in the future. However, only some humans exhibit “TK,” with some characters not caring in the slightest about it. However, there is one character with telekinesis that characters should watch out for, that of the child, Cid.

When threatened, Cid’s “TK” seems to far outdo that of other characters. Cid can kill people with his rage due to his “TK” and was seen in the film creating small sandstorms, as well as having people float in the air, immovable due to his restraining powers.

5 Damien – The Omen

It’s impossible not to acknowledge a powerful child without referencing Damien from The Omen. What makes Damien so powerful is the fact that he is none other than the son of Satan, thus making him the first Antichrist. Damien was born of Satan and a jackal, giving him an unholy heritage and power.

Damien has the power to interfere with machinery while also making them see such horrific visions that give the victims aneurysms. Damien is also immune to all ailments and should be treated as a great threat to the world and those that are religious.

4 Miles Morales – Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse

With great power comes great responsibility. It’s a phrase that runs through to all characters imbued with the gift and curse of Spider-Man. Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse follows the hopeful youth Miles Morales, a child who is soon thrown into a larger multitude of universes as he develops the powers to become his world’s new Spider-Man.

Miles Morales has great strength, agility, intellect, and quips. One thing he can do above the other Spider-Man is invisibility. Miles may be a child, but he is destined for greatness, and the film follows his fall and inevitable rise to superhero status.

3 Anakin Skywalker – Star Wars: The Phantom Menace

When audiences first meet Anakin Skywalker in the Star Wars prequel, The Phantom Menace, many knew of the ominous threat that looms for the galaxy far, far away. Anakin Skywalker was the prophesied Chosen One of the Jedi Order and was destined to bring balance to the Force. Anakin’s blood contained over twenty-thousand midi-chlorians, more than the great Grand Master Yoda.

Anakin exhibited great power in the Force from an early age and learned quickly thanks to the teachings of Obi-Wan Kenobi. Anakin Skywalker could have been the greatest Jedi the galaxy ever knew, but due to his horrible childhood, he soon succumbed to the Dark side thanks to his lust for greater power.

2 Brandon Breyer – Brightburn

In recent years, analogies for Superman have seen a rise in popularity. Brightburn is more or less a “what if” story, but if Superman decided to be evil instead, despite having a loving childhood. This child, Brandon Breyer, soon sees himself as a psychopathic murderer, following the route of Homelander rather than Superman.

Such great powers are terrifying in the hands of a child, especially one that knows just how powerful he is. Brandon Breyer is absurdly powerful, but not without weakness. The ship he arrived in is his “Kryptonite,” but even that does not stop him for good.

1 Jack-Jack, The Incredibles

When Jack-Jack was born, the Parrs believed that their newborn was without powers. However, they later discovered that Jack-Jack doesn’t just have one or two, but well over seventeen and counting. Jack-Jack’s powers are rather dangerous, considering he is a baby with little control over his giggles and tantrums. However, he can be controlled thanks to his love of cookies and his mother.

Jack-Jack is invincible, as shown in The Incredibles, where he turned into solid metal. He can also be fireproof, shoot lasers from his eyes, and travel different dimensions. He’s a lovable character and most certainly one of the most absurdly powerful children in movies.
