4 Highlights From Los Angeles Fashion Week

When we think of fashion week, Milan, Paris, New York, and London come to mind.

But what about L.A.?

N4XT Experiences have reimagined Los Angeles Fashion Week, and Fenty’s former chief creative officer Ciarra Pardo—who has collaborated with talent such as Jay-Z, Eminem, David Beckham, Snoop Dogg, and Rihanna—is bringing it back, and more cutting-edge than ever.

This LAFW was an industry-focused affair with a strong hip hop bent, and insightful talks, as well as your expected parties (check out some of the party photos). Lighthouse Immersive ArtSpace LA, Citizen News and EDITION West Hollywood were official LAFW venue partners this past weekend. Here, Pardo, the president of Los Angeles Fashion Week, walks us through five highlights from the exciting affair.

anOnlyChild

“Maxwell Osborne’s anOnlyChild was so exciting, he came from many years from the fashion brand, Public School,” said Pardo. “I’m a big fan how he is creating sustainable fashion that’s cool and beautiful, he’s a brand doing it right and it’s gorgeous.”

Fleur du Mal

“Fleur du Mal is super exciting, Jennifer Zuccarini’s brand is so exciting because it goes beyond the sexiness of lingerie to more of an empowering collection that is sex appeal focused, and moving into ready to wear, and keeping it classy,” she said. “She’s a firecracker, and it’s so exciting they’re celebrating their 10 year anniversary.”

Gypsy Sport

“Gypsy Sport is exciting, I have a ton of their pieces and I’m Latin, so I’m a huge fan of LatinX designers,” said Pardo. “They’re onto something cool, in between the intersection of streetwear and sexiness—beyond sweats and uber-sporty.”

Sami Miro Vintage

“Sami Miro Vintage is onto something, she wanted to present the brand in a private, chic, invite-only atmosphere,” said Pardo. “I support her, and all of her fashion is sustainable, with upcycled materials.”
