DELAWARE, Ohio – Ohio Wesleyan University has selected 22 first-year students as its 2023-2024 Economic Management Fellows. The competitive four-year fellowships are awarded each fall by OWU’s Woltemade Center for Economics, Business and Entrepreneurship.

Scholars are selected based on their high potential for success at Ohio Wesleyan and their interest in business studies. OWU’s most recent Economic Management Fellows (EMF) and their hometowns are:

  • Araceli Hello from Asuncion, Paraguay
  • Connor Asbury from Columbus, Ohio
  • Nia Baryatya from Indore/Madhya Pradesh, India
  • Wade Backstrom of Devon, Pennsylvania
  • Christian Begg from Powell, Ohio
  • Eli Benson from Enon, Ohio
  • Madina Binraymond from Columbus, Ohio
  • Nathan Combs of Milford Center, Ohio
  • Quinn Coughlan of Chevy Chase, Maryland
  • Lily Delahousse from Sugar Land, Texas
  • Gabriel Eberhardt from Marengo, Ohio
  • Aidan Flowers from Randolph, New Jersey
  • Evaly Garnett of Delaware, Ohio
  • Jaden Hacking from Perry, Ohio
  • Elsa Hoam of Fredericktown, Ohio
  • Jacob Lowery from Cleveland, Ohio
  • Brianna Montgomery from Gibsonburg, Ohio
  • Andrew Mosman of Springfield, Virginia
  • Francesca “Frankie” Nuss from Columbus, Ohio
  • Graham Stadler III of Silver Spring, Maryland
  • Jacob Williams of Shelby, Ohio
  • Haley Young from Grove City, Ohio

To be considered for the scholarship program, students must indicate an interest in economics, business administration, management (marketing or finance), accounting, or international business on their OWU applications; have high school records that indicate potential for excellence at Ohio Wesleyan; and full face-to-face interviews with Economics and Business faculty.

Choosing the EMF program ensures that freshmen are assigned an Economics and Business academic advisor, receive sophomore or junior mentors as freshmen, and connect with professional mentors as seniors.

Fellows also receive a special academic stipend for the first three semesters and enroll in a first-year seminar open only to them. The seminar is team-led by the entire Faculty of Economics and Business, which helps students quickly build relationships with their new professors.

In the second year of the program, students take a faculty-escorted field trip to a major American city, such as New York, where they meet with prominent Ohio Wesleyan alumni and other professionals working in the city in business or government.
