On the whole, 1920: Horrors Of The Heart is an ordinary fare which has the 1920 brand as its biggest plus point. Its performance at the ticket windows will be average because of its weak promotion and its routineness. Commercial viability of the project should not be a problem in view of the fact that a good part of the investment has been recovered from sale of digital, satellite and audio rights.

One notable characteristic of films produced by Vikram Bhatt is their exceptional music, but this horror drama fails to impress in that aspect as well. The VFX effects come across as juvenile, raising questions about how a film can possess such subpar visuals in this day and age. 1920: Horrors of the Heart serves as an incubation center for Vikram Bhatt’s daughter, but unfortunately, she fails to seize this opportunity. The film falls far short of its intended goal of delivering genuine scares.

Mahesh Bhatt and Suhrita Das’ story is novel and different from the rest of the horror films of Bollywood. Instead of the heroine getting possessed, here it’s she who causes the madness and has shades of grey. Mahesh Bhatt and Suhrita Das’ screenplay sadly doesn’t do justice to the plot. Shweta Bothra’s dialogues are too filmy.Krishna Bhatt’s direction is not up to the mark. She handles a few scenes with panache. But otherwise, her execution is outdated. It doesn’t seem to be a film of 2023 and seems like this is a film made 2 decades ago.On the whole, 1920: HORRORS OF THE HEART boasts of a great story but fails to impress due to outdated execution and far too many loose ends.

Set in a fictional town, Kosha Hills, the film lacks the simplest of logic throughout— especially when Avika’s character spits rotten rat and doesn’t seem to have any association with the plot. With the evident green screen edit and visual design, 1920 Horrors of The Heart is an uneasy watch. If you are up for a crunchy cockroach treat, 1920 Horrors of The Heart is definitely for you. After all, a laughter session of 122 minutes is what you need after a long tiring week.
